Question: Why effective communication is important to me?

Study shows 'People in organizations typically spend over 75% of their time in an interpersonal situation'. As a student in graduating year, how to perform well and get on well with workmates in the workplace becomes a serious issue I need to think over. Effective communication do will make contribution. No matter what roles I will play-team player, group leader or division direction etc., effective communication can make my meanings, feelings, ideas and attitudes truly understood by others. I would learn through working with others. At the same time, other's feedback is the motivation for me to have reflection and improve my performance. Besides, effective communication help me to build strong relationship with people. As I have an understanding of moods and emotions of other people, I can empathize with them and take interest in discussions .

Effective communication is also important in study. As an undergradtuate, studying is not our whole life. We try to perform well not only academically but also in CCA's. However, time is limited. Effective communication can help us to save time and achieve more goals in a unit of time.

Besides, relations with neighbors, friends and relatives will be harmonious as conflicts and debates are reduced due to effective communication. I will be in light-hearted mood everyday.

That's all of my opinion. Welcome to make comments!

  1. Good conclusion darling.
Can't believe we are already in final semester :(.
Looking forward to see the workplace and continue a new life. I am sure we have to use different communication methods under different situation. Life will become quite differnt when we graduate and we must ready to face it. You have done good communication well in daily life and I think for both of us, the main purpose is learn to effective communicate: less time and bigger impact. :)
Work together and have fun as always in the following days. Cheers! (^.^)//

  2. Hi Ashely! I strongly agree with you that communication is important in both working and studying environments. And even though having effective communication can effectively cut down the time on communicating and achieving more goals, i feel that cutting down the time spent on communication should not major factor behind communicating effectively as the built up of friendships or even working relationships with the others depends alot on how much time you spend with the person, or more explicity how much time you have spent communicating with him or her.

Nonetheless, looking forward to more working opportunities with you in this class and lets learn from each other on communicating effectively too =)

  4. Hi Ashley! Perhaps you meant that effective communication will let you communicate more ideas effectively in a given amount of time? While I feel that quality of time spent on communication with other people is important, I agree with Zu Rong that it does not mean you should cut down the time you spend on maintaining your relations. You could instead use your newfound skills to build stronger and more meaningful relationships using the same amount of time. Cheers!
