Hey girl! I personally really like the very organized and highlighting approach, if I were a HR manager screening hundreds of applications, I would skim and maybe like to see the main points of a paragraph.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to show an understanding of the company you are applying for, maybe you can consider to briefly talk about what you know about the company and why did you choose it.
You could also emphasize more on your academic/non-academic skills that are more related to the position you apply for, and cut down those that may not be too relevant, so it is more relevant and concise.
Hope it helps! My two cents!
Hi Ashely,
ReplyDeleteYour topic sentence for the paragraghs provided a good indication of what to expect and helped to effectively summarise your skills in the cover letter.
Here are some suggestions that you could consider:
1) Format:
- You could put your name above your address and do away with having to mention it in the first paragraph.
- It would be great if you could find out the name of the HR officer managing this internship. Alternatively, you could use "Dear Sir/Madam" instead of "Dear HR Officer".
2) Competency of statistical softwares:
It would be useful if you could elaborate more on the statistical softwares that you are competent or have been trained in.
Likewise, it would be advantageous if you could demonstrate your ability in using these softwares effectively in previous experiences.
These aspects would definitely display your competency and ability to learn which are key requirements for this internship.
Hope this helps! :)
